OBGYN in Breast cancer screening program


 

Training Physicians:

1.         The Division of Mammography in Radiology at Chia-Yi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is offering a fellowship training in breast imaging for OBGYN .

2.         The Division of Breast sonography in General Surgery at Chia-Yi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is offering a fellowship training in breast sonography for OBGYN .

 GOAL:

The primary mission of the Breast Imaging and sonography Fellowship Program is to develop competent breast imagers having the clinical, educational and research skills to successfully assume faculty positions in academic OBGYN departments. The fellowship is designed to provide breast cancer screening training in aspects of breast imaging and sonography.PROGRAMS:

Comprehensive training is given in all areas of breast imaging and sonography. Extensive experience is provided in sonography screening procedures and emerging breast imaging technologies. Participation in teaching residents and ongoing clinical and basic research is highly encouraged. The duration of the fellowship is one year.ACULTY AND EQUIPMENT:

All faculty are highly experienced in Breast Imaging and sonography; each faculty are board certified in radiation medicine and breast cancer medicine.

Our hospital currently performs approximately 10,000 breast imaging and 500 interventional studies per year at least.

The Chia-Yi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Breast Center has a mammography units, two ultrasound units, a stereotactic core biopsy unit, and an ABBI System. In addition, breast MRI and nuclear breast imaging are also performed.

Research programs include multi-institutional clinical trials, clinical based trials, basic molecular and gene-therapy, breast cancer/imaging research program and biomedical engineering/technology development in breast imaging.

Research time is provided to fellows with academic interests and elective time is provided to those with interests in areas outside breast imaging.

The breast cancer screening training program for OBGYN is particular emphasis on breast physical examination, cancer screening ultrasound, and radiation imaging including mamaography and magnetic resonance imaging.
The OBGYN fellow has the opportunity to work with faculty from both departments of radiology and general surgery while training in OB ultrasound.
 

1.         100 cases of Breast cancer screening sonography examinations at least. plus Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsy with over 10 biopsies, including stereotactic and ultrasound guided core, FNA and vacuum assisted biopsies (Mammotome), cyst aspirations and pre-operative needle localizations.

2.         50 mammographic examinations plus active Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsy program with over 5 biopsies, including stereotactic and ultrasound guided core, FNA and vacuum assisted biopsies (Mammotome), cyst aspirations and pre-operative needle localizations.

Duration: One year.


During the training program, there is opportunity to spend dedicated time in pathology, breast surgery as well as medical oncology in order to understand all aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of women with breast cancer.
