Chung Shan Medical University (CSMU) has been growing steadily in the past four decades.
To meet the challenge of the new century, the university has prepared itself with multiple progress: first the completion of an affiliated hospital-whose beautiful Surgical Wing and Center of Stomatology located on both sides Wen-Shin S. Rd. has become a landmark of the area.
The hospital has been equipped with the most advanced facilities for cardiological and oncological diagnosis and treatments upon which the faculty of the university focus their research. This new equipment includes the Positron Emission Tomography (PET), the Spiral Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, the Gamma Knife and the Linear Accelerator and Cyclotron, etc.

Second, the construction of new buildings at Da-Ching campus was completed on 24 February 2004.
These new buildings provide students with an excellent study environment, house and richer research resources. New sports facilities with modernized tennis and basketball courts had been completed here, just a few yards away from the main campus. All the programs of the university are designed to fulfill Chung Shan’s distinct characteristics—the integration of theoretical research and clinical applications. The numbers of scholarly papers authored by our faculty and research teams published in learned journals have steadily increased yearly.
The university’s teachings, researches and future development will continue this same path incorporating research with clinical and practical applications. Furthermore, to enable students to grow not only intellectually, but also socially and humanitarianly, a program motivating students to volunteer themselves to the service of community has been designed and will soon be launched.

Our extension education programs have won much acclaim. Among various programs, the optometry course, which offers credits for a baccalaureate, is the first to be implemented in Taiwan.
Many other extension education programs are being planned to provide continuing education opportunities for the public.

CSMU is particularly proud of its graduates. Many of them have gone on prestigious positions in the government and various medical institutions. Their contributions to the health care system of the country are significant. As a medical university we hope that we can make greater contributions to the health care system of Taiwan.
